About the Program
Some characteristics of the program:
- Every new student entering the Wilkes Honors College is offered the opportunity to be paired with a Peer Mentor
- Mentors are volunteers invited to participate
- The WHC Peer Mentoring program builds upon the strong sense of community among faculty, students, and staff at the Wilkes Honors College of FAU
How does the program work?
First Year and new transfer students are connected with a Peer Mentor at the start of the first semester. When possible, students are matched based on academic and/or extracurricular interests. Peer mentors and mentees meet in either a group or 1:1 settings at least once a month during the Fall semester and as needed thereafter throughout the Spring term.
Some quotes from our mentees
"My mentor was very helpful in answering questions about FAU's resources and programs, as well as keeping me informed about current events and opportunities around FAU. I never had trouble contacting her for help or information, and our meetings were held on a consistent schedule."
"This program has been really helpful in my transition to the Honors College! I hope FAU continues to do the Mentor Program for future students."
"She was very friendly and helpful, I genuinely enjoyed speaking with her and I felt that I could ask her for help with many things."
"It allowed me to meet new people."
